Daily Heat Routine
- Follow local public health guidance.
- Drink water regularly unless a clinician has given different instructions.
- Avoid heavy outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
- Wear light, loose clothing and use shade when outside.
- Check on older adults, infants, outdoor workers, and people without reliable cooling.
- Move pets to cooler areas and keep water available.
- Plan pet walks for cooler times.
Power and Medical Needs
- Charge phones and backup batteries before forecast heat peaks.
- Plan for medication storage if cooling or refrigeration is interrupted.
- Know how to contact utilities, property managers, or support services.
- Keep a paper list of contacts in case phone batteries run low.
